First responders pull man’s body from Connecticut River in Northfield

NORTHFIELD First responders recovered a man’s body from the Connecticut River near the Route 10 bridge on Monday evening. The man’s identity is currently unknown.
According to Fire Chief Floyd “Skip” Dunnell III, firefighters from his department and the Northfield Dive/Rescue Team responded to the bridge at around 6:50 p.m. after a caller reported seeing a man’s body floating down the river, face down.
“The body was seen by a bicyclist crossing the Route 10 bridge,” Dunnell said.
After the Fire Department arrived, Dunnell said he saw the body about a football field’s length from the bridge, and advised his crew to be cautious as the body neared debris on the river. ....
