1. Guinness Cincinnati Celtic Festival
Genetic testing is all the rage these days, and maybe you've discovered some Celtic lineage in your family tree. Or perhaps the sound of pipes and fiddles stirs your soul. Or hey, maybe you just love the TV series "Outlander" and a good stout. You'll find all that and more at this family-friendly festival, which celebrates the Celtic territories of Brittany, Cornwall, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man.
Highlights include a Highland dancing competition, a military tattoo featuring eight pipes and drums performances, live Celtic music, several Irish dancing performances, contests for the reddest hair, most freckles and tallest tale, traditional food, a whiskey tasting tent, guided beer tastings with Guinness Brewery ambassador Jimmy Callahan, dart throwing and fun games and activities. A Celtic Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Lawn Stage. The festival takes place 5-11 p.m.

Real-life stories of healthcare workers are explored in Dare to Know Theatre’s digital verbatim play A Broken Family, Together.
The play was created with support from Oldham Coliseum Theatre as one of the Coliseum’s Micro Commissions 2021.
A Broken Family, Together is the culmination of words said by healthcare professionals working at The Royal Oldham Hospital looking back over the coronavirus pandemic.
With the help of Wendy Clapham, Assistant Director of Nursing Services for Critical Care at the hospital – who received a BEM for Services to Nursing in the Queen’s New Year Honours list, Dare to Know interviewed the team at the hospital with a view to celebrate and document the dedication and heroism that nurses, doctors, porters, managers, volunteers and more have shown throughout the crisis.

MO-TO-THE-ONCLE Will Be Performed at the 2021 Cincinnati Fringe Festival

Mo-to-the-oncle (pronounced MO-to-the-AWN-uh-kuhl) debuts at the 18th Annual Cincinnati Fringe Festival (Friday, June 4 - Saturday, June 19) via cincyfringe.com. Mo-to-the-oncle will be available to be viewed on-demand throughout the 14-day theater festival. Tickets are now on sale for $10 at cincyfringe.com, where more information is also available.
Mo-to-the-oncle is a satirical one-woman comedy play about a Bronx teenager who must wear a monocle to school after his dad loses their vision insurance. The story unfolds through a series of bold monologues performed by writer and actress Melissa Cole, who portrays at least a dozen different characters throughout the show. "People always say that they just can't get into solo shows," says Cole. "My background is in improv and sketch comedy, so my perspective as a creator comes through that lens. Mo-to-the-oncle is really fast-paced and fun, and I think it's a real standout in the solo show category."
