F&M Bank donates funds to area nonprofit


In response to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Farmers & Merchants Bank of Central California (F&M Bank) and the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco (FHLBank San Francisco) have partnered to help meet the urgent needs of its local communities.
As a member of FHLBank San Francisco, F&M Bank participated in a donation matching opportunity to fund area nonprofits that are supporting individuals affected by the pandemic.
Through a donation from F&M Bank, then matched by FHLBank San Francisco, a total of $2,000 was contributed in Sacramento County to South County Services located in Galt.
Kent Steinwert, Chairman, President and C.E.O. stated, “Investing in our communities is a cornerstone of who we are as a financial institution. During these trying times, our partner, FHLBank San Francisco, has enabled us to further leverage F&M Bank’s donations through this matching program, a tremendous benefit for all those involved.” ....

It’s very possible you’ve never heard her name but she is a mover and a shaker when it comes to caring for older folks. She’s made herself an expert at finding those who are also willing to help. Andrea Wheeler Johnson is a blessing to the community and especially to elders.
For the past four years, Johnson served on the Commission on Aging. She will begin her second term on Jan. 6. Commissioner Robert Balliet had nothing but praise for the “youngster” of their group.
“She absolutely deserves a public ‘kudos’ for all the work she does, not just on the commission, but especially her taking the initiative, time and again, to seek out the elderly in need of help during trying times, donating not only her skills and time, but making considerable personal financial contributions to accomplish her goal of serving the seniors of our city,” Balliet said. ....

Neither pandemic nor inclement weather stops senior lunch


It would take more than a worldwide pandemic and a little inclement weather to stop the senior holiday lunch held each year to honor the seniors of the Galt community. Executive Director Maria Rosales and her staff at South County Services plowed straight ahead with the annual event … COVID style, which, like a lot of other events, translated into a drive through.
“South County Services has seen the impact of COVID-19 on families in need, especially our seniors,” Rosales said. “We knew we couldn’t cancel this event, so we’re very happy we were able to do drive-thru style.” ....
