WEST CHESTER — As the number of deaths from coronavirus in Chester County continues to skyrocket, and with Chester County health professionals being pushed to exhaustion as hospitals near capacity, Chester County Commissioners have approved a Declaration of Disaster Emergency for the next 90 days.
The resolution is in response to the significant, increased health, emergency and safety concerns caused by the coronavirus.
“As COVID numbers continue to rise, and with it the burden on medical and emergency resources, this step will ensure that immediate proactive emergency management measures are taken to mitigate and reduce the severity of this COVID-19 public health emergency,” said Josh Maxwell, county commissioner. “The effect of this Declaration is to activate the response and recovery aspects local emergency management plans and to authorize the Department of Emergency Services to coordinate the activities of the necessary response.” ....
