Batting first after losing the toss Joe Cranch (52), emphasising yet again his value to the team, and Sam Litchfield (50) gave the Salisbury side the ideal start with an opening partnership of 93, laying foundations which were seized upon by the fast emerging George Edwards (37) and skipper Rob Pittman (30) as South Wilts reached a total of 227 for 8 from their 40 allocated overs. Paultons began their reply in tentative fashion against accurate bowling from openers Nick Partridge and Jayden Atkinson, The first wicket fell when Rob Pittman brought himself into, the attack, accounting for the first three wickets by the time the score had reached 66. On Boxing day last year Salisbury was awarded £9,355,731 from the Government’s £1billion pot of money - called the Future High Streets Fund - to revive town centres across the country. Around £14.3million had originally been requested for the city, in its bid to connect Salisbury Railway Station to the rest of the centre in a more attractive way. This is in addition to Fisherton Street becoming an inviting and walkable space and creating more apartments. But because the city received less money than it asked for, decision makers are having to think about what they can achieve with the Government grant. ....
