As the implementation of TRAI s second phase of new SMS regulations by telecom companies continues, people around India have started facing difficulties in receiving OTPs for any kind of transactions through banks, e-commerce companies, or even two-factor authentication messages. 
 
According to a report by The Economic Times, the Aadhaar Authentication of services also crashed. “We are unable to reach an authentication service to serve you OTP. Please try again later,” said a notice on the official Aadhaar website. ....

Government sets up Digital Intelligence Unit to deal with pesky calls, mobile frauds
Recently, Telecom Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad chaired a high-level meeting to address the rising concerns of financial frauds, unsolicited messages. As a result, a Nodal agency, named Digital Intelligence Unit (DIU) will be set up, which will coordinate with various LEAs, Financial Institutions, and telecom service providers in investigating any fraudulent activity involving telecom resources.
At the License Service Area level, Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP) system will also be created.
In the meeting, the Minister of Communication directed the officials to take strict action against the telemarketers and individuals involved in the harassment of telecom subscribers. ....

New Delhi: In a bid to crack down on tele financial frauds and pesky calls, Union Minister for Electronics & Information Technology, Communications and Law & Justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad chaired a high level meeting.
The objective of the government is to address the rising concern and irritation of consumers over Unsolicited Messages on mobile phones, repeated harassment through SMS, promising fraudulent loan transactions and above all make digital transaction safe and secure.
In the meeting, Minister of Communication directed the officials to take strict action against erring telemarketers and individuals involved in harassment of telecom subscribers. The method of harassment includes unsolicited commercial messages or calls. Centre tightens noose to curb financial frauds & unsolicited messages using telecom platforms
New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) With an aim to make digital transactions secure, reliable and trustworthy, the Centre has tightened noose to prevent financials frauds like in Jamtara in Jharkhand and Mewat in Haryana wherein fraudulent activities has been done using telecom platform.
A high level meeting chaired by the Union Minister for Information Technology and Communication Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday asked the officials to take strict action against erring telemarketers and individuals involved in harassment of telecom subscribers with a clear directions of taking strict and tangible action to stop such activities immediately especially to the telecom resources being used to carry out financial frauds and dupe the common man of his hard-earned money. ....
