Fogt earns banking excellence award

GARRETT â Mark S. Fogt, president and CEO of Garrett State Bank, will be honored by the Indiana Bankers Association with the IBA Leaders in Banking Excellence award.
The award will be presented Aug. 16 at the IBA s annual convention in French Lick. The award celebrates exceptional leaders who have positively impacted Indiana banks and communities. Six other members of the Indiana banking community are being inducted into the class of 2021 leaders.
Fogt is longtime president and CEO of Garrett State Bank.
His career began in 1974 with The First National Bank of Findlay, Ohio, and he advanced through other Ohio institutions before joining Inter-Community Bank in New Jersey as president and CEO. ....

City honors 25-year servant

AUBURN â City officials honored Al Wleklinski on Thursday for his 25 years of service on Auburn boards and commissions.
Wleklinski began with an appointment to the Auburn Economic Development Commission and went on to serve two decades on the Board of Zoning Appeals and Plan Commission, presiding over the latter two bodies for many of those years.
The Auburn Board of Public Works and Safety passed a resolution saluting Wleklinski and presented it to him and his family at City Hall.
The resolution also mentions Wleklinskiâs service to several civic and charitable organizations.
âIf there was an opening, and they asked, I went ahead and did it,â Wleklinski said after the ceremony. ....

Vaccination clinic hits new daily high

AUBURN â DeKalb Countyâs COVID-19 vaccine clinic reached a new high by giving 200 shots Friday, up from 150 per day in its first three sessions.
âWe were able to get more vaccine from the state,â said DeKalb County Health Officer Dr. Mark Souder. âWe would probably be able to do 250 a day and maybe 300 without working our system too hard.â
The clinic at Middaugh Hall in Auburn opens for its first Saturday session today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. by appointment only, to administer 120 vaccine doses.
Souder said the clinic will continue next week with the same dates and hours as this week, with plans to give 150 shots per day unless more become available. ....
