Russian vaccine gets emergency use authorisation - Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: While 1,286 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in a single day on Saturday, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Drap) issued an Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) to Russian Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik V.
After the Drap’s EUA, now both the government and the private sector can procure three medicines i.e. British vaccine Oxford AstraZeneca, Chinese vaccine Sinopharm and Russian Sputnik V.
According to a document available with
Dawn, Sputnik V has been manufactured by the “National Research Centre for Epidemiology and Microbiology” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. ....

BENGALURU: Bengaluru’s renowned virologist Dr V Ravi, popular as ‘Virus Ravi’ for his achievements in the field of virology research, is one of the leading scientists on the International Scientific Advisory Board for Sputnik-V the world’s first registered vaccine against SARS-CoV-2.
Dr Ravi, a member of Karnataka’s Covid Advisory Committee, formerly headed the neuro-virology department at the National Institute Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru.
