ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday claimed to have restored 74pc lights on roads, parks, and commercial centers.
“The civic agency has restored almost 80pc signals, and fixed lights in 60pc parks of the sectors of I, G, and F series, besides installing colorful lights in underpasses and bridges,” a press release issued by CDA said. It said the administration is committed to beautification of the capital.
“In this regard, streetlights have been restored at Expressway, Srinagar Highway, Jinnah Avenue, Margalla Road, 7th Avenue, 9th Avenue, F-6, F-7, F-10, G-10, other commercial areas and roads,” it said. ....

Govt Renames EV Board to Pakistan Technology Development Board
The federal government has decided to rename the Electric Vehicle Development Board the ‘Pakistan Technology Development Board’, in consideration of the Engineering Development Board’s (EDB) limited capacity to deal with new technologies.
Sources told Propakistani that the decision was made during the last meeting on the formation of the Electric Vehicle Development Board held at the Ministry of Science and Technology under the chairmanship of the Federal Minister for Science and Technology (MoST), Chaudhry Fawad Hussain.

After an exercise of around six months, an energy audit of inefficient power plants has come to a halt as textile and other industries have obtained a stay order from Sindh High Court.
In July last year, the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCOE) had authorised National Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (NEECA) to conduct energy efficiency audit of captive power plants. ....

Experts' webinar views: Energy sector should be depoliticised

LAHORE: The energy sector should be depoliticized and people having conflict of interests should not be appointed in any of the key posts in the sector. This will help end incompetency, nepotism and favoritism in the energy sector and lead to proper development of the sector.
These views were expressed by the energy sector experts responding to the questions speaking at a webinar at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) here on Thursday.
The energy experts including Senior Research Economist Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) Afia Malik, Energy Specialist of Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) Dr Hina Aslam and Energy Research Center COMSATS Dr Iftikhar Ahmed suggested that the energy policy should be made focusing on available indigenous resources instead of import-base fuels such as RLNG and imported coals which resulted in increase in import bill and high cost of the energy.
