The digital version of the national book, which allows for colouring virtually and was first made available last year, is being used outside of Barbados in cyberspaces as far as Europe. Typhon’s unique water innovation picks up major award An innovative Penrith company has won a major award for its ground-breaking technology. Typhon, based at Newtongate, has developed one first systems in the world capable of using UV from LEDs to neutralise harmful micro organisms on an industrial scale. It could slash the costs of water treatment worldwide. It has been working with water firm United Utilities and the pair picked up a Water Industry Award (WIA) in the category of Drinking Water Initiative of the Year. The system, developed by Penrith firm Typhon, is one of the first systems in the world capable of using UV from LEDs to neutralise harmful micro organisms on an industrial scale. Other LED UV treatment systems are only effective at treating small amounts of water for very low flows or personal use.
