MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – Multivector cooperation was discussed by Rector of the Belarusian State University Andrei Korol and Inom Madjidov, Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, during a videoconference on 6 May. Various representatives of the two universities also participated in the conference, the Belarusian State University press service told BelTA.
The videoconference was prompted by the need to flesh out the agreement on cooperation the two universities signed in April. The Uzbek side was interested in the Belarusian university s experience in the area of aerospace technologies, in particular, the training of specialists for the aerospace industry and the launch of a university satellite. Uzbekistan Needs NGOs, But the Barriers Remain High

Uzbek authorities have boasted of opening up, of great reforms in progress, since 2016. But for many independent Uzbek NGOs, the barriers to registration remain high and almost unscalable, as Dilmurad Yusupov, a Ph.D. researcher at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex, explains in the interview below with The Diplomat’s Catherine Putz. Tashkent has bragged of 10,000 NGOs in the country, but Yusupov says the official statistic is inflated by government-organized NGOs (GONGOs) which are backed by considerable institutional support and lack the grassroot connections of genuine NGOs.

MINSK, 7 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian State University and the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek have signed an agreement on cultural and scientific cooperation. The document was signed by the heads of the universities Andrei Korol and Inom Madzhidov. The signing ceremony took place as a Belarusian State University delegation visited Uzbekistan, the university s press service told BelTA.
The document provides for exchange programs for students and professors. It also envisages cooperation in preparing diploma papers, dissertations, and publications, the joint organization of scientific research and events, exchange of literature and periodical educational editions. Up till now this partnership was limited to the joint training of Uzbek students majoring in medical-biological work and medical ecology at premises of the Belarusian State University s A.D. MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – A center of the Uzbek language and the culture of Uzbekistan will be set up at Belarusian State University (BSU), BelTA learned from the BSU press service.
The center will open in line with the roadmap signed by the BSU and the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navo i. The signing ceremony was held during the visit of the BSU delegation led by BSU Rector Andrei Korol to Uzbekistan.
The center will aim to strengthen educational and cultural ties between the two countries and facilitate the studies of the language, history, and ethnic groups of Uzbekistan. The center is set to open in December 2021. ....
