J. Polep Distribution Services will remain in Chicopee warehouses following sale of real estate

CHICOPEE A New York investment company bought the warehouses used by J. Polep Distribution Services in Chicopee late last month for a total of $34 million.
But Polep, which was sold last year and is now a division of National Convenience Distributors, will remain in the buildings, said Jeff Polep, who remains as chairman of the board while his son, Eric, is CEO.
Back in September 2019, Palm Beach Capital Fund III announced it had invested in J. Polep Distribution Services and the company’s Rachael’s Food fresh deli business. Financial terms were not disclosed. Palm Beach Capital announced last year that it formed National Convenience Distributors out of Polep and two other distributors. ....

HARTFORD, Conn. Connecticut legislators are considering a full ban on flavored tobacco and electronic cigarette products, including menthol cigarettes, the Hartford Courant reports.
Senate Bill 326 would outlaw the sale of flavored tobacco, vape and electronic nicotine delivery systems. The proposal defines flavor as a “distinguishable taste or aroma,” including any type of “fruit, chocolate, menthol, mint, wintergreen, vanilla, honey, candy, cocoa, dessert, alcoholic beverage, herb or spice.” The taste or aroma of tobacco is not included in the description.
Retailers oppose the bill because of the potential to lose a significant revenue stream. “By banning menthol cigarettes, it’s not only going to jeopardize our sales, but also revenue for the state,” said Nurul Alam, owner of Foodland, during a ....

Proposed legislation before the Connecticut General Assembly would ban stores like Sam s Quick Stop in Hartford from selling flavored tobacco products, including menthol cigarettes.
As concerns about the health risks of vaping among young people continue to grow, Connecticut lawmakers want to eliminate all flavored e-cigarette and tobacco products including menthol cigarettes, which tobacco companies have disproportionately marketed to communities of color.
