Kingston Town Administrator Keith Hickey jumps right in

KINGSTON – New Town Administrator Keith Hickey is officially on the job after being selected as the unanimous choice to lead Kingston going forward.
Hickey, previously the town manager in Winchendon - located in central Massachusetts on the New Hampshire border - started Monday, Feb. 1, after giving the required notice to his former employer.
He thanked everyone he has met so far for welcoming him with open arms and said he looks forward to working with everybody before getting down to business at his first meeting of the Board of Selectmen Tuesday night.
 “It’s been a great couple of days I’ve been in town and have had the opportunity to meet with department heads and discuss some of the ongoing issues they’re dealing with and preparing for the fiscal 2022 budget,” he said. ....

The Jaffrey Select Board has approved 2.5 percent raises for police for the next two years.
During its meeting Tuesday evening, the board approved a three-year collective bargaining contract for the town’s police officers, which includes set pay increases for 2022 and 2023.
Police salaries are expected to stay at current levels for 2021, according to Town Manager Jon Frederick, as police already received a 2 percent pay increase at the start of the year. The contract ratified by Selectmen Tuesday guarantees a 2.5 percent increase for the next two years for the force.
The union contract includes all non-probationary members of the police force excluding the police chief and lieutenant. Excluding the chief and lieutenant, the department currently has 11 full time and two part time employees. ....

Conway selectmen pitch noise ordinance


CONWAY — Selectmen Tuesday voted to ask voters this spring to enact a townwide noise ordinance that would regulate more than just short-term rentals. 
Short-term rentals have been a hot topic in town and there could be as many as 600 in town. Last year, selectmen decided the rentals were not permissible in the residential zone but held off enforcing a ban until new regulations could be put in place. Selectmen are gearing up to present voters with articles to implement such regulations this April.
A committee was created to make recommendations and they came up with five proposed warrant articles including the noise ordinance.  ....
