TEHACHAPI, Calif. â The City of Tehachapi has announced the return of the All-American 4th of July Festival on July 4, resuming the festivities after cancelation in 2020.
The festival will feature some changes in including a limitation to just one venue at Philip Marx Central Park, and an entertainment lineup that shifts focus to local independent music artists playing on the stage at Central Park from noon to 4 p.m.
The event will kick off with the All-American 5K hosted by the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District with a rolling start time between 7 and 9 a.m. Runners and the public are then invited to the Ed Grimes Memorial Pancake Breakfast benefitting the Tehachapi High School Warrior Football program in conjunction with the Tehachapi Warrior Booster Club from 7 to 11 a.m. ....

TEHACHAPI, Calif. â On Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Houchin Community Blood Bank will be working with the City of Tehachapi and the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District on a Tehachapi-wide blood drive.
All blood donations made to HCBB remain in Kern County for residents.
All who donate will receive a free âNo Pandemic Can Stop Usâ t-shirt and also an entrÃ©e to win a $500 gift card.
âThis is our final blood drive for 2020, the reservation website has been having some problems so we are asking walk-ins to help fill the drive. Fill out the donor questionnaire at HCBB.com before you arrive and either print it or screenshot the barcode and bring that with you to save some time,â said Key Budge Community engagement specialist for the City of Tehachapi and the event coordinator. ....

TVRPD to receive $12K in coronavirus relief

The Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Park District held a special board meeting Thursday evening and approved an agreement with the California Special Districts Association to receive Coronavirus Relief Fund Assistance for Special Districts throughout Kern County.
The relief fund is an extension of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security, or CARES Act. Under the act, federal emergency declarations provide additional funding to states and local governments to reimburse them for certain costs.
Up until last month, special districts, including TVRPD and community service districts, were left out of the funding, according to TVRPD District Manager Corey Torres.
Last month, the Kern County Board of Supervisors voted to include special districts and set aside $2 million for reimbursement of COVID relief expenditures, such as protection gear, sanitizer and telecommuting equipment. ....
