The Fort Wayne Mad Ants issued this news release today
June 14, 2021 The Fort Wayne Mad Ants, presented by Lutheran Health Network, the NBA G League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers, announced today the first set of priority home games for the 2021-2022 season. The 15th Anniversary season of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants will feature home games and scheduled promotions on the following dates:
November 6 – Mad Ants First Home Game. The Mad Ants return to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum for the first time in 608 days with a special ‘White Out’ as we tip off the 15th Anniversary Season. All fans will receive a complimentary 15th anniversary t-shirt courtesy of Lutheran Health Network/OPS. Special theme jerseys will be worn commemorating the team’s history with auction proceeds going to Associated Churches of Fort Wayne. ....

Letter carriers food drive goes virtual again
Need greater than ever in pandemic

As president of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Summit City Branch 116, it is my privilege to represent the city letter carriers in Fort Wayne and much of the surrounding area. One of the ways letter carriers serve our community beyond delivering the mail is through the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.
Every year, letter carriers throughout the nation participate in what is no doubt the largest one-day food drive in the country. Our customers simply place a bag or two of food at or near their mail box and we pick it up. The food is then separated by thousands of volunteers and delivered to local participating food banks. ....

Troy University Announces May 7th as Date for Spring Graduation

Founding and senior pastor of Church of the Highlands Chris Hodges will provide the keynote address at commencement exercises at Troy University on Friday, May 7.
Two separate commencement exercises will be held in Trojan Arena, due to COVID-19 restrictions. Guests must escort the graduate into the arena. Overflow seating will be available in Veterans Memorial Stadium, with the ceremony being shown on the stadium’s video boards.
Graduates from the College of Education, the College of Health and Human Services and the College of Communication and Fine Arts will take part in a 10 a.m. ceremony. A 3 p.m. ceremony will feature graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences and the Sorrell College of Business. ....

Church-going amid pandemic

In the last few Sundays, about 100 people have attended in-person worship services at Fort Wayne s First Presbyterian Church.
That s well under attendance before the COVID-19 pandemic, said Carrie Winebrenner, the congregation s new resident pastor. But it s a lot better than last year about this time.
“We were close to zero,” she said.
The downtown church s rebounding attendance likely has to do with a congregational quirk – members tend to be in older age groups. ....
