First Dates Hotel viewers praised a brave Holocaust survivor who was sent to a concentration camp aged six, but recalled how she escaped from the Nazis under dirty sheets that were due to be burned before hiding in a cellar for nine months.
In last night s episode of the Channel 4 show, which took a look back at the programme s best bits, Dorit Oliver-Wolff, 83, who is originally from Yugoslavia, was matched with 82-year-old John.
During a romantic dinner, the two, who are both widowers, exchanged heartwarming life stories, with Dorit revealing how she was sent to a concentration camp when she was just six-years-old.  ....

A state-owned Chinese Communist Party (CCP) propaganda outlet described British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab’s call for “urgent and unfettered” access to the Xinjiang region of China as a “shameless imperialist act”.
On Monday, Mr Raab called for United Nations investigators to be granted access to the province, alleging that the human rights abuses being carried out against the Uyghur Muslim population by the communist regime are happening on an “industrial scale”.
In response, the Chinese state’s most belligerent mouthpiece, the
Global Times, said: “The UK Foreign Secretary’s office is making a shameless imperialist act against China about human rights that has stunned Chinese people.” ....

Holocaust Survivors Urge UK To Act On Uyghur Genocide

Holocaust survivors have urged the UK to denounce genocide against Uyghurs in the Xinjiang autonomous region in China.
Survivors Ruth Barnett and Dorit Oliver Wolff sent a letter Tuesday to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, inviting him to a meeting to discuss China s treatment of the Uyghurs ahead of a vote in the House of Commons on genocide amendment.
Barnet and Wolff said they know the trauma of genocide as survivors of the holocaust.
We are deeply concerned that the UK is not doing enough whilst the genocide against the Uyghurs worsens, they wrote. Any considerable person cannot ignore that the Uyghurs in Xinjiang and other groups are facing genocide. We are watching on as one of the most egregious crimes is unfolding before our eyes. ....
