TV Price in India: TV prices to go up from April as open-cell panels get costlier in global markets | India Business News


NEW DELHI: Prices of LED TVs are set to rise further from April as the cost of open-cell panels has gone up in the global markets by up to 35 per cent in the past one month.
Brands including Panasonic, Haier and Thomson are considering to increase prices from April this year, while some like LG have already raised prices due to hike in prices of open-cell.
Panasonic India and South Asia president and CEO Manish Sharma said, Panel prices are rising continuously and so are the prices of TVs. It is likely that TV prices may increase further by April. ....

The Association for Democratic Reforms report analysed the election affidavits of 443 MLAs and MPs who switched parties and recontested polls in the past five years. Out of the 405 MLAs across the States who quit and switched parties, 42% were from the Congress, the report found, while the BJP came in a distant second with 4.4%. On the other hand, the BJP was the party of choice for 44.9% of the recontesting MLAs, followed by the Congress with 9.4%. ....

Prices of television sets are set to rise sharply this quarter and possibly beyond as companies battle an increase in component costs. The price rise threatens to derail the sector’s growth momentum of 2020 when people cooped indoors ordered new and bigger TVs for their homes.
According to industry stakeholders and experts, the cost of open-cell display panels has risen significantly amid a global shortage of integrated circuits, and a general rise in prices of other raw materials.
