Middletown educators team up for porch visits for students who are struggling with remote learning

Theyâre keeping tabs on students who are struggling with remote learning.
Itâs all about intervention and itâs paying off.
An army of Blue Dragon educators huddled at Middletown High School on Wednesday.
âWe know that students who are successful their freshman year are more likely to graduate on time,â said Assistant Principal Dawn Brookes, Middletown High School.
The Connecticut RISE Network, a non-profit supporting education, also knows this. It recently published a report on hybrid and remote learning in our state.
âSo, what the researched revealed is that students who have chosen to be remote are more likely to be disengaged than their peers who have chosen to either be hybrid or in-person,â said Nichelle Woodson, CT RISE Network. ....

Bharti Airtel successfully prices dual-tranche bond offering of USD 1.25 bn

Bharti Airtel has successfully priced its debt fund raise of US$1.25 billion
through the issuance of its first ever dual-tranche US$ bond offering spread across senior and perpetual issuance. This is the largest issuance by any Indian Investment Grade issuer since January 2019.
Airtel has priced US$750 million of senior 10.25 year bonds at a yield of US 10 Year Treasury + 187.5bps for an implied coupon of 3.250%. Simultaneously, Network i2i Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company priced US$500 million in guaranteed subordinated perpetual NC 5.25 year bonds with a coupon of 3.975%.
This is a lowest every yield on 10 year and Perpetual bonds for Bharti Airtel. ....

Vodafone case study: using an alternative legal service provider

Employing 500 legal professionals worldwide, Vodafone has plenty of legal support. But its legal team is constantly honing how its services can best be delivered. The use of in-house service centres and alternative legal service providers (ALSPs) now plays a crucial role in its function.
Creating a seamless service is a key objective here, as is achieving cost savings. Wayne Spillett, head of legal – commercial operations, Group Legal, explains how this team works closely with their panel firms: “We challenge them to run our matters as efficiently as possible, including making use of low-cost centres and new technologies where possible.
“But we also partner with the lawyers in Vodafone’s shared services centres to bring them into our in-house legal family, a collaboration which has worked very well. In certain circumstances, it also makes sense for us to partner with ALSPs and our relationship with them has evolved over time,” he says. ....

Faulty cable cuts power to Snow King, about 300 other customers

A faulty underground cable caused about 300 customers in Jackson to lose power for a couple of hours Wednesday evening, and stranded some Snow King Mountain Resort skiers on chilly evening chairlifts for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Reports of the outage at Snow King began to come in to the News&Guide not long before the hill s closing time at 6:30 p.m. At least one skier said she was stuck on the Cougar Lift for between 15 to 20 minutes as they waited for auxiliary power to kick in and get the lift-riders to the top of the chair. After dismounting the lift, skiers and snowboarders had to traverse their way down with minimal light. ....
