Ardipithecus Ramidus Essay
767 Words4 Pages
Ardipithecus Ramidus was discovered in the 1990’s. It is believed to be one of the earliest of our ancestors discovered yet, dating back to almost 4.4 million years ago. 24 years ago, between 1992-1993 hundreds of fossils were recovered in Ethiopia. According to Dorey (2015) “The finds number over 110 specimens and represent about 35 individual members of this species. Most of the remains are dental, but some skull and limb bones were also found.” “Ardipithecus is a genus of an extinct hominine that lived during Late Miocene and Early Pliocene in Afar Depression, Ethiopia. Originally described as one of the earliest ancestors of humans after they diverged from the main ape lineage, the relation of this genus to human ancestors and whether it is a hominin is now a matter of debate.” (Ardipithecus ramidus 2015) ....

Traveller of the dark side: Vlogger Paramvir Singh thrives on danger as he explores the world

Express News Service
Paramvir Singh Beniwal lives on the edge. Staying with dangerous tribes and exploring Civil War-ravaged countries thrill him the most.
The 24-year-old adrenalin junkie is a YouTube impresario whose travel vlogs are meant to inspire people to push the wend envelope.
“I’m not your typical beach-hopping, selfie-snapping ,margarita sipping travel influencer. Danger is where I thrive. My audience loves it,” he exults. Beniwal’s choice of holiday destinations is deliberately outré. “Not to mention, they have huge tourism potential,” he winks.
Take, for instance, strife-struck Somalia, where he landed up in December 2020. The fact that the country’s many unstable governments were constantly warring with terrorists wasn’t a deterrent to taking a flight to Mogadishu. “Somalia is about beautiful beaches and hospitable people. It hasn’t exploited its blessings such as its long coastline that can be made to flourish as a tourism hots ....

Human remains

Among the riot of species that have lived on Earth over the last four billion years, only we can ponder our own origins and it often angers the blood. We’re long past any serious debate that humanity evolved from apes in Africa a few million years ago, but the scientists looking for ever older bones of our ancestors always seem to be squabbling.

Fossil Men: The Quest for the Oldest Skeleton and the
Origins of Humankind, the journalist Kermit Pattison concurs in his riveting account of the discovery of Ardipithecus, a sometimes climbing, sometimes walking proto-human that lived 4.4 million years ago in Ethiopia. “In an ideal world, the task should be left to more dispassionate investigators but, since no other species has volunteered, the job is left to us imperfect humans,” he writes. ....
