DENVER — The Task Force to Reimagine Policing and Public Safety released a 53-page report Friday listing 112 recommendations for ways the Denver Police Department can improve.
The task force was formed in the wake of George Floyd’s murder and was comprised of more than 40 different groups from various political backgrounds. ....

Community Task Force Wants to Overhaul Public Safety in Denver


A community-led task force established in the wake of the Denver Police Department s heavy-handed response to the George Floyd protests just issued a series of recommendations that would transform the City of Denver s approach to public safety.
“Our goal is to create a community-based public-safety model that protects and heals the community from centuries of violence and systemic oppression,” explains task force coordinator Robert Davis of the Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance.
Along with Davis, other members of the task force which was funded by the Rose Community Foundation and Caring 4 Denver   include Xochitl Gaytan, who serves as co-chair of the Colorado Latino Forum, and Jill Locantore, executive director of WalkDenver. Various nonprofits also assisted the task force in its research, as did groups like the Vera Institute of Justice. A funeral took place March 31 for Joseph “Rick” J. Ryglicki, 73, of North Bergen. He passed away on a bright Friday afternoon at home surrounded by his loving family. Born April 12, 1947 in Teaneck, New Jersey, he was the son of the late John Ryglicki and Wanda (Walasek) Ryglicki. Joseph, or Rick, as he was affectionately known to his friends and family, is survived by his beloved wife Frances Mansfield. Devoted father to Jonathan M. Ryglicki and his wife Amanda, and Jason M. Ryglicki, J.M.C. and his wife, Elizabeth. Loving grandfather to Willa and Harrison. Dearest brother to Walter P. Ryglicki. Rick also survived by his niece Haley Wargacki, and his nephews David Ryglicki, David Mansfield, and Robert Mansfield. He would consider, and be considered, family to many more. Rick was an alumnus of St. Peter’s Preparatory School ’64, and the College of the Holy Cross ’68 before enlisting in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he att ....
