Acting Sturbridge police chief Earl Dessert appointed to the position
STURBRIDGE-The Board of Selectmen has named Lt. Earl J. Dessert as the town’s new police chief.
On Monday, Town Administrator Jeffrey K.  Bridges Jr. appointed Dessert to the chief position and the Board of Selectmen confirmed that appointment, effective immediately, with a 4-0-1 vote.
Dessert was named the interim police chief on May 13.
Since Oct. 1, Dessert has also been serving as the Wales police chief, a position he will be leaving shortly.
Dessert has 22 years of law enforcement experience. He began his career with the Sturbridge Police Department in 2007 as a patrol officer after having served as a Vermont State Trooper. ....
