Permits have been issued for the Kisan Townhomes, also on Edmonds Way. It will include 18 units in four different buildings.
The location for the Kisan Townhomes is this address not far from Westgate Chapel.
The Apollo Apartments would include 251 units proposed for the 23600 block of Highway 99, the current location of the Sunset Building.

The Edmonds Housing Commission has presented a variety of recommendations to the mayor and the Edmonds City Council for review.

The commission’s first recommendation addressed what has been labeled as: “Missing Middle Housing in Single Family Neighborhoods.”
The commission recommended that single-family residential neighborhoods in Edmonds be rezoned to allow for the construction of duplexes or two-unit townhouses on single-family parcels. This proposal was advanced as a way to increase the availability of “affordable” and “missing middle” housing in Edmonds single family neighborhoods.

Oregon’s Legislature took the historic step to re-legalize traditional “missing middle housing” in 2019, but the work to build housing diversity and more inclusive neighborhoods has just begun.
One promise of “missing middle housing” is that it can deliver “affordability by design” that per-unit development costs can come down when we design more efficient housing units and share land costs among multiple homes. In Portland, where the City’s missing middle housing implementation was ahead of Oregon’s new state law, some community members raised the objection that affordability was not guaranteed by the policy changes. In response, housing advocates crafted Portland’s “Deeper Affordability” code amendments: an affordable housing density bonus equivalent to a $150,000 subsidy for each project.
