IBM accused of stealing server OS source code, breaking antitrust law

Xinuos Inc sued International Business Machines Corp in Virgin Islands federal court on Wednesday, alleging IBM stole source code related to its server operating system software and used it to improve its competing product and corner the market.
In addition to its copyright infringement claim about the source code, Xinuos says IBM violated antitrust law by conspiring with former competitor Red Hat Corp to divide the market among themselves, and then acquired Red Hat to “solidify and make permanent their scheme.”

On Wednesday, March 31, 2021, Teledyne received a No-Action Letter regarding the proposed acquisition from the Competition Bureau of the Government of Canada. Today, Teledyne received a clearance letter from the Federal Cartel Office of Germany. Having received the No-Action Letter and clearance letter, Teledyne has now obtained antitrust clearance from the respective regulatory authorities in Canada and Germany. ....

Four more states have joined a lawsuit filed by Texas and others against Alphabet Inc’s Google that accuses it of breaking antitrust laws to boost its already dominant advertising business, the Texas attorney general said on Tuesday.
Joining the lawsuit filed in December are Alaska, Florida, Montana, Nevada and Puerto Rico, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said. This brings the number of plaintiffs in the lawsuit to 15 states and territories.
The lawsuit was one of three filed last year by the federal government or states against Google. ....
