Apr. 22 A Boise nursing home that has provided skilled nursing care and rehabilitation services for 64 years will close next month after a federal agency canceled its contract, citing operating deficiencies that sometimes harmed patients.
Residents and staff of the nonprofit Good Samaritan Society-Boise Village, located off West State Street at 3115 Sycamore Drive, were told Tuesday that the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services had terminated its contract and would no longer reimburse the 127-bed home for services after May 20.

Mar. 13 Idaho s state health department reported just 333 new confirmed and probable coronavirus cases Friday, continuing a week of relatively stable numbers.
The Treasure Valley s case numbers remained better, too, with Ada County reporting just 71 new cases (47,686 total) and Canyon County only 31 (25,006 total).
Some counties in East Idaho still bear watching, given their population. In a Friday afternoon tweet, Health and Welfare identified three such counties as the state s hot spots, with 89 new cases in Bonneville (12,971 total), 24 in Madison (6,551 total) and 11 in Jefferson (2,581 total) on Friday. They were pegged by Health and Welfare because of high infection rates, with 7-day moving average incidence rates of 64.8, 43.3 and 40.7 per 100,000 people, respectively. ....

BOISE, Idaho Most residents in Idaho s long-term care facilities haven t seen their loved ones in person in over a year.
But thanks to the COVID-19 vaccine, that is slowly starting to change. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have given a green light for in-person visitation with vaccinated residents in nursing homes.
Jenny Johnson, 78, lives at Good Samaritan Society Boise Village, and received her first coronavirus vaccine dose in December. Now fully vaccinated, she says she has been keeping up with her family digitally since the pandemic began, but misses the in-person visits. ....
