Lucinda Williams Suffered a Stroke Last Year

Lucinda Williams suffered a stroke in November 2020,
Rolling Stone reports. Williams experienced a blood clot on the right side of her brain on November 17 that affected the left side of her body, and was rushed to Nashville’s Vanderbilt Medical Center. After a month of therapy at a Vanderbilt rehab center, she was discharged on December 21. Now six months into her recovery, Williams walks with a cane, is unable to play guitar, and continues to experience pain on her left side. Her husband Tom Overby said there were no signs of brain damage and that she is expected to make a full recovery. ....

Beloved singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams had a stroke shortly before Thanksgiving 2020. She confirmed the news in an interview with
Rolling Stone. However, Williams’ husband/manager Tom Overby affirms that Williams should recover “100 percent.”
Williams, who has plans to play gigs this summer, says, “The main thing is I can still sing. I’m singing my ass off, so that hasn’t been affected. Can’t keep me down for too long.”
She said that on Nov. 17, getting ready to take a shower, she began to have trouble keeping her balance and became unable to walk. ....

A few days before Thanksgiving last year, Lucinda Williams was in the bathroom of her Nashville home getting ready to take a shower when she began to have trouble keeping her balance. She stumbled a bit and couldn’t stand up straight. Even more frightening, Williams couldn’t walk. She called out to her husband, Tom Overby, who happened to be on the phone with their primary care physician. When he relayed Williams’ symptoms to their doctor, he was told to quickly get her to a hospital. ....

The singer-songwriter revealed that she suddenly lost her ability to walk while getting ready to take a shower one night last November. Williams told
Rolling Stone she was later taken to hospital where doctors discovered a blood clot in the right side of her brain. Her condition has affected her mobility on the left side of her body.
The 68-year-old, who is now using a cane, explained she is now in recovery and doing regular hand and arm exercises to begin regaining my strength and mobility, and range of motion. Thankfully, she is still able to sing. ....
