AG decisions in Vivint Solar case raise concerns

A Corrales lawmaker has asked for an investigation into the attorney general’s handling of a now-settled case that alleged unfair trade practices by a massive solar company.
State Rep. Daymon Ely
State Rep. Daymon Ely, a Democrat, has asked the Office of the State Auditor to look into why Attorney General Hector Balderas agreed to seal all documents in a case against Vivint Solar Inc., and why the AG didn’t pursue any specific restitution for thousands of consumers in a settlement it reached with Vivint last fall.
Ely says Balderas agreed to a protective order requested by Vivint that apparently bars public access to more than 1 million documents in the case. The order, approved in August 2020 by 2nd Judicial District Court Judge Clay Campbell, obstructs the ability of consumers to gather critical evidence when pursuing individual complaints against Vivint, and it may violate the state’s Inspection of Public Records Act, ....

AG-Vivint Solar settlement could curb deceptive marketing

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Vivint Solar Inc., a national installation company recently acquired by publicly traded firm SunRun, has agreed to consumer-friendly modifications to its marketing practices in a legal agreement with the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office.
But lawyers representing Vivint customers who may have been victims of deceptive marketing said individual homeowners received no relief in the settlement, which the 2nd Judicial District Court in Bernalillo County approved in late December to resolve a lawsuit that Attorney General Hector Balderas filed ....

COURT LISTS: Man caught with extreme child abuse images handed community order

Lukasz Bat, age 24, of Lindsay Avenue, Wakefield, admitted possessing indecent images of children including 71 Category A images - the most serious. There was also 89 Class B images, and 126 Class C images. He also admitted possessing extreme pornography involving animals. He was given a community order with a sex offenders rehabilitation programme, sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years, and given a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order which will limit his internet use, and told to pay £175 costs.
Andrew James Hague, age 30, of James Court, Hemsworth, admitted two counts of driving while banned and without insurance. He was jailed for eight weeks, banned from driving for 12 months and told to pay £128 costs. ....
