NEWELL Marilyn Gibas, 79, of Newell, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021.
Born in East Liverpool, Ohio on June 26, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Grace (Frampton) Gibas. She is also survived by many family and friends.
Marilyn taught for three years at the East Liverpool City Nursing School. She moved in 1973 to Muncie, Ind., where she taught nursing and was an associated Professor for 30years at Ball State University She belonged to The American Nursing Association, American Rehabilitation Nurses Association, American Associate Counseling and Development National Rehabilitation Association.
Marilyn also served on the Board of Easter Seals Camp, Isanogel Hillcroft Developmental Center. She was also a devoted member of the Newell Lions Club. Marilyn was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Chester, WV. ....

Sleek wrote that the first McIntire Funeral Home started in 1902 when A.C. McIntire became associated with the Christine Brothers Funeral Parlor . operating at the time in rooms above the McIntire Furniture Store on West Liberty Street.
Several years later, the establishment became known as Danford, McIntire and Nixon Funeral Home . then as McIntire and Nixon.
In 1927, McIntire became the sole owner and in the early 1930s he opened a funeral home at the current Larwill Street location after purchasing the property from John Jameson, M.D. The funeral director converted the former residence into a modern funeral home and he and his wife lived in a private 10-room suite on the second floor. ....

EAST LIVERPOOL Terry Lee Smith, 64, of East Liverpool, passed away March 12, 2021.
Born in East Liverpool, Ohio on July 26, 1956, he was the son of the late Richard and Esta (Mercer) Smith.
Terry graduated in 1974 from East Liverpool High School. He was a horse trainer and formerly worked at Mountaineer Race Track. He was an avid Steeler and WVU fan.
Terry was a free spirit who lived his life doing what he loved.
He followed his dream of horses and went on to dedicate much of life to them. A horse trainer and farrier, he enjoyed the simple things in life, loved his family and was lucky enough to live a life doing exactly what he loved. He did more for others than for himself. ....

On Monday, February 8, 2021, Vincent A. Gala, Jr., loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and Pappy passed away at the age of 67.
Vince, or Junior and Vinnie as others knew him, was born on July 5, 1953, in Weirton, WV to Vincent Sr. and Irene (Lassan) Gala, who preceded him in death.
A graduate of Oak Glen High School, he attended Potomac State College where he was a member of the football team before graduating from the WV State Police Academy. He joined the Weirton Police Department where he served for over 30 years, rising to the rank of Captain before his retirement in 2007. For the last 14 years, he worked as a Court Security Officer with Paragon Security. ....
