A Dunedin man killed in a crash near Omarama last week has been remembered as a kind and caring colleague.
Gary Wayne Phillips, 65, died when his ute, which was towing a caravan, rolled on State Highway 8 on Thursday.
Phillips worked at the Otago Regional Council until 2019.

Syed Ghulam Murtaza Shah Kazmi, commonly known as G M Syed, was a renowned Sindhi politician, born in British-occupied Sindh in 1905.
For many reasons, G M Syed is considered the father of the Sindh rights movement in Pakistan. And even after his death he continues to remain a towering figure, rallying his supporters, admirers and even opponents on his birthday every year. This year, his 117th birthday is being observed today in Sindh and other parts of the world to remember him, and understand why he remains relevant to political currents in Sindh.
One of the reasons G M Syed remains part of political discourse and movement in Sindh is because he belonged to a political generation which was not just into the business of politics. Like Jawahar Lal Nehru, Azad, Gandhi, Bacha Khan etc, Syed researched history, literature, and authored books on culture and history. Above all, he was seen as someone who inspired the working class ....

Conservationist Bindi Irwin remembered her late father Steve Irwin with a touching photo.
Taking to Instagram, the 22-year-old recreated the image of her mother’s baby bump photo for when she was pregnant with Bindi’s brother Robert.
In the image, she can be seen with her black shirt pulled up while her husband Chandler Powell gives a loving kiss to her bare bump.
Likewise, her mother can be seen posing in a similar fashion while her late father did the loving gesture.

Islamabad : Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) on Tuesday organised National Literary Seminar on Ahmed Faraz in connection with his 90th birth anniversary.
Addressing on the occasion, Chairman PAL Yousuf Khushk said, Ahmad Faraz through his poetic work, vision as well as his literary achievements connected the hearts of the peoples.
He will always be in our hearts through his exemplary works and the love and respect he received from the peoples has no parallel in the history of literature, he added. He was a brave man who never compromised in his principles, he stated.
Khushk said that Ahmed Faraz always raised voice for the oppressed nations and gave the message of love and humanity. He said that Faraz was the ambassador of love and peace from Pakistan and a man of rules. ....
