ST. LOUIS A St. Louis man was sentenced to 23 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder-for-hire and other charges.
Maurice Woodson, 34, was a member of a large-scale cocaine trafficking conspiracy between 2012 and 2016. Woodson bought large quantities of cocaine from convicted drug trafficker Adrian Lemons and his associates in the St. Louis area.
On Thursday, he was sentenced to 23 years in prison about four months after pleading guilty to the crimes. ....

named Appeals Court Judge Robin Ransom of St. Louis to the Missouri Supreme Court the first Black woman to hold the position.
“As the daughter of a fireman who worked and lived in a segregated engine house when he worked for the fire department, this is a very happy day for my mom, myself and my entire family,” Ransom said during a press conference in Jefferson City. “While I may be the first African American woman to be part of this court, I’d like to say I have never lived by a label or by identity that anyone has tried to put upon me. ....

ST. LOUIS (AP) A St. Louis-area man has been charged with first-degree murder and other counts in the January shooting death of another man, police said.
Tishawn Washington, 18, who lives in an unincorporated area of north St. Louis County, was charged Thursday with the murder count in the Jan. 4 killing of 22-year-old Demont Coleman, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Washington was also charged with unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action in the case.
Police have said Washington shot Coleman when the older man showed up banging on the door of a person they both knew near Fairground Park in St. Louis. Washington then fled to another state and had not been arrested on the charges as of Thursday, police said. ....
