The Pretoria high court has granted the National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA s) Investigating Directorate (ID) an order to freeze R1.4bn in assets belonging to former  Eskom executives and former Tubular Construction Projects contractors.
“Former Eskom senior manager for capital contracts France Hlakudi, the company’s former group executive for group capital, Abram Masango, former Tubular Construction Projects CEO Antonio Trindade, businessman Maphoko Kgomoeswana, former Tubular Holdings executive adviser Michael Lomas, six companies owned by these individuals were served with the order,” said ID spokesperson Sindisiwe Seboka. ....

Ex-Prasa boss Lucky Montana defends his axing of executives

Former Prasa chief executive Lucky Montana has defended his alleged reign of terror and firing of executives while at the helm of the passenger rail agency, saying they were insubordinate and worked against him.
Montana returned to the stand at the Zondo commission where his firing of group executive for legal Martha Ngoye in 2015 was addressed.
Montana is accused of having led the collapse of corporate governance and maladministration and purged dissenting officials at Prasa during his tenure, leaving the agency in financial trouble.
Ngoye has accused Montana of having pushed her out and other officials who were fighting corruption and wrongdoing at Prasa. ....

The group, collectively known as “CITGO 6,” consisted of former executives of US-based refinery CITGO. They were arrested in 2017 on embezzlement charges stemming from a never-executed proposal to refinance some $4 billion in CITGO bonds by offering a 50% stake in the company as collateral. Last year, they were sentenced to between 8 and 13 years in prison.
Attorneys Maria Alejandra Poleo and Jesus Loreto told CNN the six were released from prison on Friday night in Caracas and were on their way home.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza retweeted a message on Friday calling the release a goodwill “gesture” to honor the “agenda of the new White House.” CNN has contacted a Venezuelan government spokesperson to seek more information. ....
