In commemoration of World Environment Day, Nestlé and LuLu have teamed up to encourage use of reusable bags in a joint campaign running instore across 40 outlets in the UAE and on the leading hypermarket chain’s website. 
 
The collaboration will offer 100,000 reusable grocery bags to LuLu shoppers as part of a campaign entitled “Love your planet, and say YES to re-usable bags” that aims to inspire positive changes in consumer behaviour. 
 
“We are committed to making 100% of our packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025, up from more than 85% today, and to reducing our use of virgin plastics by one-third in the same period,” said Rémy Ejel, Chairman & CEO, Nestlé Middle East and North Africa. “We are fully aware however that palpable change that comprehensively tackles plastic waste and truly impacts the planet can only happen through collect ....

Smarties launches new milk, white and orange chocolate sharing blocks


Smarties has launched three new sharing blocks - and fans are already going wild for the mouth-watering treats.
The new Nestle chocolate bars are available across the UK in milk chocolate and white chocolate featuring mini Smarties and in orange flavoured chocolate featuring only orange mini Smarties.
Each 90g product comes in a paper sleeve that s 100 per cent recyclable, so eager customers - who have already branded the treats amazing online - can now help the environment whilst enjoying the sweets. 
Milk and orange Smarties blocks will be available at major retailers and convenience stores, while white chocolate Smarties block will be sold exclusively in ASDA for £1.   ....

York research leads to removal of 250 million plastic Smarties packs


Smarties packaging is to become plastic free after pioneering research in York
SMARTIES are to become the first global confectionery brand to switch to recyclable paper packaging, following pioneering work at Nestle s Product Technology Centre in York.
The move by Nestlé will remove approximately 250 million plastic packs sold worldwide every year for the chocolates.
The innovative new designs include sharing bags, multipacks and giant hexatubes made from coated paper, paper labels or carton board, all produced from sustainably sourced and recyclable material.
Louise Barrett, head of the Nestlé Confectionery Product Technology Centre in Haxby Road, said developing safe and convenient paper-based solutions for Smarties had required the pioneering of new materials and testing by Nestlé packaging experts at the centre and at the Swiss-based Institute of Packaging Sciences. ....

Nestle commits to putting all Smarties products into paper packaging by April


Nestle has committed to replacing 250 million plastic Smarties packs with recyclable paper packaging.
Smarties will be the “first global confectionery brand” to make such a switch for all its products worldwide, according to the firm.
Around a quarter of a billion plastic packets are sold annually, making up 90% of the entire Smarties range.
The new designs, which will be in the UK and Ireland by April, include sharing bags, multipacks and giant hexatubes made from coated paper, paper labels or carton board, produced from “sustainably sourced and recyclable material”.

Smarties’ switch to recyclable paper packaging removes around 250 million plastic packs sold globally each year.
Shoppers will begin to see plastic-free Smarties packaging in airports and other travel retail channels after global food & beverage giant Nestlé revealed a switch of the brand’s confectionery products to a recyclable paper variant.
Attendees to a virtual media roundtable briefing held yesterday (26 January) heard that Smarties, which claims to be the first global confectionery brand to move to recyclable paper packaging, will transfer 90% of its range to the new format (
10% already uses recyclable paper packaging).
The move will replace around 250 million plastic packs, totalling more than 400 metric tons of plastic packaging. ....
