Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 3) – The author of the controversial Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act said the government failed to properly implement the law s intent.
Former senator JV Ejercito, who crafted Republic Act 11299 which was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte in February 2019, said concerned government agencies could have made more information campaign in what the law provides and how it will benefit drivers and save children s lives.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 2) The Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act is a good law to prioritize children s safety but it should not be implemented amid a pandemic, and flawed guidelines, according to a motoring expert.
James Deakin emphasized the mandatory mindset of prioritizing a child s safety inside a vehicle, adding the economic cost of buying car seats balances the children s welfare while on road.
You can t put a price on child s safety, said Deakin, who compared the need for child car seats to buying brakes and airbags for a safe vehicle.
