IBM competition winner killed by robbers struggling to snatch phone – Sources

Preliminary investigation by the police has shown how a systems engineer and winner of the 2018 IBM competition, David Nketim-Rex, was killed.
Top police sources and a relative of the deceased told
The PUNCH on Monday that David was shot by robbers on a motorcycle on Jibowu Street in the Jibowu area of Lagos State last Friday.
David, who was the son of Dr Yetunde Nketim-Rex, a senior lecturer at the English Department of the University of Lagos, was said to have been dropped off by his cousin, Nicholas, around 8pm.
The deceased was said to have walked down to Jibowu Street near Finicky Restaurant, which has no functioning streetlights. ....

Four arrested for Yobe teenager's death – Punch Newspapers

Four persons have been arrested by the Yobe State Police Command over the mysterious death of a teenage girl at one of the government lodges in Damaturu, the state capital.
The 18-year-old girl was said to have been found dead on Thursday at the lodge.
The cause of her death had yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing the report.
The corpse of the deceased was deposited at the State Specialist Hospital, Damaturu, awaiting autopsy.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim, said the charges against the suspect would become clear after an autopsy on the corpse. ....

Sunday PUNCH that she had been put out of business by swindlers who scammed her and other victims in the guise of granting them loans to grow their businesses.
Kazeem was among traders and artisans in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, and environs duped of their monies by alleged conmen who operated under the Atlas Initiative Scheme Investment.
Although the victim could not ascertain the exact number of those defrauded by the thrift company, she said over 1000 traders and artisans were in attendance at a seminar organised by the fraudsters. ....
