BIRMINGHAM, AL In an effort to crack down on the illegal activity of street racing in Birmingham, an investigation by Birmingham police over the weekend resulted in multiple arrests and citations.
The Birmingham Police Department conducted a coordinated operation that consisted of tactical officers, detectives, patrol officers, task force officers and Star One air support.
Intelligence gathered led the joint operation to George Ward Park and Sloss furnace on 32nd Street North, according to Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department. These locations served as meet up points for large groups of street racers and spectators, Mauldin said. ....
