Police nab undergraduate, herdsman for kidnapping, killing two teenagers

The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Wale Olokode, on Friday paraded a 22-year-old undergraduate, Muyideen Usman, and his friend, Memudu Isa, aged 20, for the alleged abduction of two children and murder.
Olokode said a case of kidnapping was reported at lludun division of the command, adding that policemen swung into action and arrested the suspects.
He said the suspects had on January 26, 2020 abducted and gruesomely murdered one 13-year-old Thompson Onibokun and Samson Onibokun, 12, at a football pitch around the Iludun area of Osogbo.
He stated, “The suspects confessed to have conspired, kidnapped and killed the victims.  The bodies of the two kids were recovered inside the bush around Oke-Baale area, Osogbo and deposited at the State University Teaching Hospital morgue, Osogbo for autopsy. The suspects will be arraigned after the completion of investigation.” ....

A 21-year-old undergraduate has been arrested by the Osun State Police for kidnapping and killing his nephews in connivance with a herdsman.
It was gathered that Usman Muyideen, a 200 level student and his herdsman accomplice, 20, were nabbed after Thompson Onibokun aged 13 and Samson Onibokun, 12, who were said to be Muyideen’s elder brother’s children were discovered dead.
The two children, according to The Nation, were kidnapped on January 26, 2021, on a football field around the Iludun area of Osogbo.
The parents were said to have reported the case at the police station and the matter was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department. ....

Osun State police command has arrested two middle-aged men, Usman Muyideen and Isa Memudu in connection with kidnapping and killing of two kids identified as Thompson Onibokun and one Samson whose ages were put as 13 and 12 years of age.
While parading the murders at the state Police command headquarters in Osogbo on Friday, the state police Commissioner, CP Olawale Olokode told newsmen that, the evil perpetrators who were residing at Durojaye street, Zone 8 area, Iludun, Osogbo, carried out the inhuman act on the 28th of January, this year.
According to him, “the suspects confessed to have conspired together to kidnap and kill the victims on the said date and bodies of the two kids have been recovered inside the bush around Oke-Baale area, Osogbo where they dumped them.” ....

Abia government calls on teachers to return to classroom

Abia State Government has called on members of the state chapter of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) to avoid being used by political detractors and return to class immediately.
In a statement endorsed by the state Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, which was made available to newsmen in Umuahia on Sunday, primary and junior secondary school teachers have received up to November 2020 salary with only December outstanding. He also informed that the state government paid 3 months salary to secondary school teachers in December 2020 as part of efforts to clear backlogs owed them with a promise to pay at least another 2 months in January 2021. ....

The Abia State Government has called on members of the state chapter of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) to avoid being used by political detractors and return to class immediately.
The state Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, in a statement made available to newsmen in Umuahia on Sunday, said primary and junior secondary school teachers have received up to November 2020 salary with only December outstanding.
