NSA About To Release Unclassified 5G Security Guidance

WASHINGTON: The National Security Agency, working with others, is creating new unclassified 5G security guidance to be published this spring, NSA Executive Director Wendy Noble said today.
It will “outline threats and risks to 5G infrastructure,” Noble said and be based on work by the Enduring Security Framework (ESF), which is “currently assessing 5G adoption across the threat landscape and examining ways to minimize those risks to the US.” ....

Anne was previously the National Security Agency’s Director of Cybersecurity, where she led NSA’s cybersecurity mission. Prior to that role, she led NSA’s election security effort and served as Assistant Deputy Director of NSA’s Operations Directorate, overseeing foreign intelligence and cybersecurity operations.
She also previously served as NSA’s first Chief Risk Officer, as Director of NSA’s Commercial Solutions Center, as Director of Enduring Security Framework’s cybersecurity public- private partnership, as the Navy’s Deputy Chief Management Officer, and as a White House Fellow. ....

On December 17, 2020, the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) Task Force (“the Task Force”) a public-private partnership whose membership includes industry representatives from the IT and Communications sectors, as well as federal government representatives released its Year Two Report (“Report”). This work takes on increased importance as the federal government and private sector grapple with software supply chain challenges in the unfolding SolarWinds incident.
The Report builds on prior Task Force efforts and summarizes the work of the five working groups to address challenges to information sharing, threat analysis, qualified bidder and manufacturer lists, vendor assurance, and impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on ICT supply chains.
