Nodaway County still in first phase of COVID-19 vaccines, 315 administered


 The first of many coronavirus vaccines have been administered to Phase 1a qualifiers of the Missouri COVID-19 vaccine availability plan in Nodaway County. Nodaway County Health Department Administrator Tom Patterson delved into what the vaccine means for Nodaway County and the University.
Patterson said as of Jan. 8, the NCHD had administered 100 vaccines to patient-facing healthcare workers and long-term care facility residents and staff. In addition, as of Jan. 5, 215 caregivers at Mosaic Medical Center - Maryville have received the vaccine, according to the hospital’s Community Relations Manager Rita Miller. More vaccinations are scheduled for this week including some second doses. ....

COVID Vaccinations Began at Chelsea Soldiers' Home – Chelsea Record


On Tuesday, the first veteran residents at the Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea received the COVID-19 vaccination. Vaccination was done onsite through a federal Long Term Care pharmacy partnership program with CVS and Walgreens. The onsite vaccinations also began for staff at the Soldiers’ Home.
In Chelsea, Dominic Pitella, 94, was the first resident vaccinated at the Soldiers’ Home. Pitella has been a resident of the Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea since April 2018. Pitella, a U.S. Army Air Corps Corporal, was a cook with the 559th Air Service Group and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II 1945-1946. His awards include the Army of Occupation Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. ....

BY THE NUMBERS: Berkshire County’s death toll rose by one on Monday to 120. The confirmed COVID-19 case count climbed 37 to 2,482, the state Department of Public Health said.
The DPH said 41 new deaths were reported in Massachusetts, pushing the statewide total to 11,506. Deaths including those listed as probably caused by COVID-19 is 11,759. Confirmed cases rose 3,760 to 314,850. The state’s surge in cases is made clear by this statistic: More than one-tenth of the total number of confirmed cases to date in Massachusetts were confirmed in just the last week.
According to data provided by Johns Hopkins University, 206,843 people in Massachusetts with COVID-19 have recovered. ....

Massachusetts to roll out COVID-19 vaccine distribution options for first responders

Massachusetts officials plan to launch vaccination sites to help first responders get the COVID-19 vaccine, Health and Human Services Secretary Marylou Sudders said Friday.
Officials are in talks with hospital leaders around the state to announce a rollout plan for police, fire and medical personnel, a source familiar with the plans told MassLive on Friday.
Sudders said the vaccination sites should be set up as early as January. Sudders also announced a larger pool of health care workers are eligible to help administer vaccines: emergency medical technicians, emergency services personnel, nursing and medical students were added to the list of health care workers authorized to inoculate people. ....
