Asphalt was cleared from Chautauqua Avenue Monday as part of improvements for the New York State Green Street Retrofit project. Construction from municipal crews and Kingsview Enterprises is expected to be completed by late June.

Construction efforts on the Chautauqua Avenue Green Street Retrofit Project were in full swing in the village of Lakewood on Monday afternoon.
Crews had stripped asphalt from the avenue, set up a detour for local traffic, and were in the process of sweeping and clearing debris from the area.
“Kingsview (Enterprises) has started at the four corners with their work,” Department of Public Works Supervisor Tom Pilling told the Lakewood Village Board at a regular meeting Monday. ....

Beginning May 10, herbicide applications will take place on Chautauqua Lake in Ellery, Ellicott and Lakewood. The treatment was recently approved by the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

Herbicide applications on Chautauqua Lake will begin on May 10 in Ellery, Ellicott and Lakewood.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation recently approved herbicide applications in those three locations as well as in the town of Busti. Applications of Aquathol K will be from May 10-21 in Ellery, Lakewood and Ellicott while applications of ProcellaCor will take place June 7-18 in Busti and Ellery.
Lakewood was approved to treat 58.1 acres of Chautauqua Lake with Aquathol K in six zones of the lake within Lakewood’s borders. ....
