Fountain Hills Mayor Ginny Dickey joined with nine other Arizona mayors for a new statewide collaboration celebrating Earth Day this Thursday, April 22.

Changes for short-term rentals appear to stall

Efforts to return some authority to local governments to regulate short-term rentals in their communities has apparently failed for this session of the Arizona State Legislature.
Representative John Kavanagh (R-D23) of Fountain Hills introduced a bill in the House of Representatives at the beginning of the session that had the support of most local governments, including the Fountain Hills Town Council and the League of Arizona Cities and Towns.
Kavanagh told The Times that a bill introduced in the Senate as an alternative to his bill was really âwatered downâ and had no teeth. That bill was defeated in the Senate on a vote of 17-43. ....

Short-term rentals: AZ mayors voice concerns

Dickey said she was asked to sign the letter with other mayors and did so.
âWe have experienced some serious disruptions to Fountain Hills neighborhoods, in my opinion, and I look forward to the Legislature making some changes to help our communities,â Dickey said. âI believe Representative (John) Kavanagh (of Fountain Hills) may propose some legislation.â
The letter describes difficulty cities and towns have had working with the Arizona State Legislature in controlling some of the issues raised by short-term rentals.
The letter is being sent to Brian Chesky CEO, Airbnb, Inc., and Peter M. Kern CEO, Expedia Group, Inc. ....
