The Kansas City metro area continues to reopen as more and more of the population gets the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said Wednesday the state has 312,591 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and there have been 5,053 deaths since the outbreak started. Overall, the state said 40.5% of the population has been vaccinated with at least one dose.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said Wednesday there have been 508,205 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the outbreak and 8,996 deaths. Overall, the state said 40% of the population has received at least one dose and 33.2% have completed vaccination. ....

The Kansas City metro area continues to reopen as more and more of the population gets the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said Friday the state has 311,705 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and there have been 5,038 deaths since the outbreak started. Overall, the state said 39.9% of the population has been vaccinated with at least one dose.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said Monday there have been 507,680 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the outbreak and 8,859 deaths. Overall, the state said 39.7% of the population has received at least one dose and 32.9% have completed vaccination. ....

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — School districts in the Kansas City metro area are deciding to keep or ditch masks in the classroom as the school year comes to an end.
The discussions come as The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention loosened COVID-19 restrictions earlier this week.
“There doesn’t seem to be a good reason to change what has worked well, said Angie DalBello, teacher.
DalBello is a teacher in the DeSoto School District. She s also a parent of an elementary-aged student in the Shawnee Mission School District. Both districts are located in Johnson County, Kansas and each are keeping their current mask mandate. This means that students and teachers will be required to wear face masks until the end of the school year. ....
