AN East Lothian-based grain merchant led by the former Scotland rugby captain Jim Aitken has fallen into administration. Alexander Inglis & Son, which supplies grain and cereals to the whisky and distilling industries, is to be wound down after a poor harvest in 2020 was compounded by a fall in demand arising from the pandemic. Joint administrators Tom MacLennan and Chad Griffin at FRP said Alexander Inglis also continued to be impacted by losses on dealings with the failed Philip Wilson Group. The board determined the best course of action was to wind the business down to maximise value to creditors, FRP said. ....
May 10, 2021 DANVILLE, Va. – The Alexander Company of Madison, Wisconsin plans to “put the lights back on at the White Mill.” Development project manager Dave Vos said the the $62.5 million project will begin with 150 apartments, 25% of which will be reserved for workforce housing for teachers, public service workers and others strapped by housing needs and high rental costs. There will be 110,000 square feet of commercial space, 150 apartment units initially with plans for an additional 100 apartments in the future. The project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2023. The Alexander Group will also restore the covered bridge that spans the Dan River and which was once used by Dan River workers to shuttle between mill buildings. The covered bridge will be restored as a pedestrian walkway. ....
DANVILLE, Va. â Mayor Alonzo Jones joined with other local officials today in officially announcing a project partnership to redevelop the iconic White Mill building on Memorial Drive into a multi-use project that initially will feature 110,000 square feet of commercial space and 150 apartments.
