International personal care major Colgate-Palmolive is heavily focused on fast-paced, consumer-driven product innovations, marking a very exciting time to be in industry, its chief technology officer says.
Back in March this year, at the online Consumer Analyst Group of New York (CAGNY) 2021 conference, Colgate-Palmolive announced a shift away from traditional line extension innovations to a design-led approach​ that considered user experience and consumer trends from start-to-finish. Patricia Verduin PhD, chief technology officer at Colgate-Palmolive, told attendees the transition marked a
“huge change”​ in how the company approached research and development.

Colgate patents cannabinoid CBD oral care toothpaste and mouthwash for antibacterial, anti-inflammatory properties


III​​), Colgate-Palmolive said it had created different oral care compositions comprising a cannabinoid, in particular CBD, integrated with an orally acceptable carrier. These blends, it send, could be used to make a range of oral care products, including toothpaste, mouthwash, oral gels, chewing gum and mouth spray, among others.
The first blend integrated CBD or other cannabinoids with a thickening system comprised of xanthan gum and carrageenan; the second blend included CBD or other cannabinoids alongside zinc ion sources for additional antimicrobial protection and strengthening; and the third blend mixed CBD or other cannabinoids with amino acids that targeted cavity formation and tooth sensitivity. ....

Colgate-Palmolive’s chief technology officer Pat Verduin PhD told attendees at this year’s online Consumer Analyst Group of New York (CAGNY) 2021 conference that the personal care giant was shifting its innovation strategy towards a
“design-led”​ approach, generating plenty of reader interest.
Rather than focusing on traditional line extensions, the company would instead invest in new product development where design and user experience teams were involved from the start to develop a
“well-rounded product”​ that fitted Colgate-Palmolive’s brand purpose and delivered a
“great user experience”.​
