Most complaints raised against Evaly; Uber has highest settlement rate

Customers filed a staggering 13,317 complaints against top e-commerce, ridesharing, food delivery platforms, and Facebook-based businesses in Bangladesh in the last three fiscal years, official figures showed.
Evaly, which has come under regulatory scrutiny recently for its business practices that include offering unusual discounts, has seen the highest number of complaints among the top 18 online platforms from fiscal year 2018-19 to 2020-21.
About 4,932 complaints were made against the firm, which accounted for 37 per cent of the total complaints received against the online platforms, according to the Directorate of National Consumers Right Protection (DNCRP). ....

Competition Code in Azerbaijan may be adopted by year-end

Work on improving the Competition Code is nearing completion in Azerbaijan, Deputy Chief of the State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Rights Protection under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, Mammad Abbasbayli, said, Trend reports.
He made the statement at an online briefing on the 2020 results.
According to Abbasbayli, the developed concept has already been submitted to the relevant authorities and the state service receives their feedback and suggestions.
We hope for the adoption of the Competition Code by the end of 2021, the deputy chief said.
The past year, like in the rest of the world, passed in the conditions of a pandemic, which also impacted Azerbaijan s GDP. However, the Ministry of Economy had prepared reforms that helped to alleviate the situation, Abbasbayli noted. ....

Demand for competitive procurement in Azerbaijan significantly increased during 2020, Deputy Chief of the State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Rights Protection under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, Mammad Abbasbayli, said, Trend reports.
He made the statement at an online briefing on the 2020 results.
According to Abbasbayli, the amount of procurement on a competitive basis during 2020 exceeded 3.5 billion manat ($2.05 billion), of which 930 million manat ($547 million) fell on open e-tenders, which is about 14.2 percent of the total volume of state purchases.
In general, it can be said that procurement on a competitive basis in 2020 showed a steady growth as compared to 2019, namely by 31.2 percent, Abbasbayli noted. ....
