Mon Mar 8 2021 | Laurel Pfahler | College PHOTO BY KEITH LUCAS The majority of teams that were ranked in that Top 20 haven’t started because of delays in scheduling related to the COVID-19 pandemic; however, with cases dropping in many areas of the country, spring sports are starting to kick into gear. Middlebury, the 2019 national champion, remains the top team while the NESCAC awaits word on whether its season will go on, but of the schools already playing games, Salisbury is off to the most notable start. The Sea Gulls jumped up three spots after opening with a trio of victories. No teams in the top 20 have lost any games yet, and the NESCAC isn’t the only conference still up in the air. The SUNYAC is still in the planning process, and schedules for others such as the Centennial Conference and Liberty League have not yet been announced. ....

Given the state of the world, conferences are at different stages all around the country. The Centennial Conference and Liberty League both recently announced plans for spring sports to return to competition, while everyone’s waiting for a call from the NESCAC. We’ve kept NESCAC teams included for the time being, and you’ll notice that Tufts now holds the No. 1 spot nationally after Salisbury got knocked off by Lynchburg. The outlook could change if Tufts and other NESCACs miss out on a second straight season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Jumbos, without question, are a national title contender year in and year out. ....
John Aadland, EIWA Sports Information Director 2/3/2021 In perhaps the most unique season in the conference s long history, the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Championship Tournament will be held off campus for the first time ever. With the member institutions unable to host events of this size, the participating member institutions will meet at Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Manheim, Pennsylvania on Friday, February 26, 2021. For those wondering, this will be the first one-day EIWA tournament since 1909. The ten (10) institutions scheduled to participate will be American, Army West Point, Binghamton, Bucknell, Drexel, Hofstra, Lehigh, Long Island U., Navy, and Sacred Heart. This group includes five of the top seven teams from the 2020 tournament. ....
