Nate Thomas had been working since he was 14. So when he lost his barista job at a Huntsville coffeeshop after the pandemic hit, resulting in him being unemployed for almost a month, “it was a really weird feeling,” he says.
He took a job at a grocery store as a stopgap “because you’ve got to pay rent, you’ve got to do stuff.” Thomas, now 22, eventually landed another barista gig, at downtown’s Honest Coffee Roasters, where he’s worked for eight months or so. He calls Honest Coffee owner Christy Graves continuing to hire during the pandemic “a huge blessing.” ....

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - On April 9, the statewide mask order expires in Alabama. Restaurant and shop owners have to start thinking about what they’ll do when masks are no longer required by the state.
Madison County business owners also have to consider the mask order from the Madison County Health Department, it’s been in place since July 7, 2020. So far, there has been no word on an expiration date for it. ....

Culture + Co., a cheese, charcuterie and wine-focused restaurant, will open by month’s end at L&L Market in West Nashville.
Jacqueline Palladino and Ashton Judy (mother and daughter, respectively) are co-owners of the restaurant, which also will offer craft beer, sandwiches, salads and dessert. Judy will serve as the general manager, with Palladino to handle chef duties. According to a release, the focal point of Culture + Co. is a moving conveyor belt from which customers can choose items. It is being billed as the only cheese and charcuterie conveyor belt in the country. ....
