Fleeing suspect charged after slow-speed pursuit

CATLETTSBURG A suspect in an O.J.-style slow-speed pursuit told an officer Sunday he was trying to get his car to a friendâs house.
At 3:13 a.m., Catlettsburg Police said an officer spotted 62-year-old John Wayne Henry, of Ashland, driving along Ky. 168 without any plates or a bumper on his 2012 Chevy Malibu.
At U.S. 23 and Ky. 168, court records show the officer hit the lights, but Henry wasnât pulling over. Driving at 20 mph, the officer followed, voicing on his public address system several times for the suspect to stop, a criminal citation states.
A backup unit arrived and the initial pursuing officer pulled ahead of Henry, making him stop, the records show. ....

Opelousas Police have made two arrests on weapons and drug violations after a traffic stop and brief foot pursuit.
According to OPD, officers acting on credible intelligence located a vehicle that was reported to have several firearms being brandished by two people that were both prohibited from possessing firearms due to previous criminal convictions.
Officers located the vehicle in the 400 block of E. Laurent St. at about 9:40 p.m. Friday night and located three handguns in the vehicle.
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 30-year-old John Coleman of Opelousas, attempted to flee the scene of the traffic stop. Coleman was apprehended after a two-block foot pursuit and was found to have narcotics in his possession. ....
