Insecurity: PDP Demands State Police, Border Protection Squad


 
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded the creation of state police, better equipment for the military, and the creation of a border protection squad.
This according to the political party is in order to urgently bring the security problem in the nation under control.
National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, made the call at a briefing in Abuja, on Monday.
The party chairman expressed disappointment that President Muhammadu Buhari has not deemed it fit to address Nigerians over the deteriorating security situation.
The party recommends the creation of state police, upscaling of the personnel strength of the arm forces, and the creation of a National border protection force different from the existing immigration and customs to check the influx of armed criminal gangs. ....

Insecurity: PDP offers to help Buhari


Secondus, who said the country is better together, said his party will work in concert with the ruling APC to rescue the nation from all the avoidable “perilous circumstances”.
He proposed the establishment of state police and setting up of border patrol squads outside immigration and customs to check the influx of armed criminal gangs
“We call on all citizens to support the quest for state police as is the tradition in other federations.”
“Mindful of the current plethora of vigilante in various parts of the country, which have not been enabled to carry out all the elements of effective policing, we call on the governors of the 36 states, the leadership and members of the National Assembly, the Speakers of the State Assemblies, relevant agencies of government, to occasion a summit for a one-stop-shop regarding the creation, structure, and management of state police. ....

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Uche Secondus, has said sounded the alarm over the current state of things in Nigeria, saying that Nigeria must not fail.
He made this remark following a series of meetings in the last one week by various organs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Caucus, the Board of Trustees and the National Executive Committee.
Secondus said that the outcome and conclusion of the meetings as a party is that “the ship of state is adrift and requires help.”
Briefing the country in a world press conference on the outcome of their deliberations, the PDP chieftain re echoed that Nigeria is on the precipice with arms-bearing non-state actors menacingly overrunning the country and its institutions and daily eroding our sovereignty as a nation ....

Adeosun's certificate forgery worse than Pantami's comments on terrorists - Garba Shehu


Shehu made the remark on Friday when he appeared on Channels TV.
Adeosun was forced to resign in 2018 after over her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) exemption certificate said to have been forged.
Pantami, the Communications Minister, expressed views in support of Al-Qaeda and Taliban during his lectures in the 2000s.
The Islamic preacher explained his views had changed but a there are calls for his resignation. The presidency, however, dismissed the demand.
Shehu said in the case of Pantami, “you are probing the thoughts, what is called ‘McCarthyism’; you search the inner recesses of the minds of individuals, bring out things they have said or they are about to say or you think they would say and use that against them.” ....
