NMA consoles Buhari over COAS, others' death - Punch Newspapers

The Nigerian Medical Association on Saturday condoled with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), over the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and others who died in the Beachcraft 350 aircraft that crashed at the Kaduna International Airport on Friday.
The NMA’s condolence message was contained in a letter addressed to the President and jointly signed by its President and General Secretary, Prof Innocent Ujah and Dr Philips Ekpe, respectively.
The letter read, “The national leadership and entire membership of the Nigerian Medical Association express her profound condolences to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian Armed Forces and family of Late Lt General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff and other officers who died in the fatal plane crash close to the Kaduna Airport on Friday, May 21, 2021. ....

The Nigerian Medical Association on Sunday advised federal and state governments against disregarding medical experts’ advice on COVID-19.
The NMA President, Professor Innocent Ujah,  stated this in a telephone interview with one of our correspondents while commenting on government’s decision to reopen schools beginning from Monday (today).
Ujah stated that although the association would not advise government not to reopen schools, he stated that authorities must ensure compliance with COVID-19 guidelines of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
The experts spoke as coronavirus cases in the country rose from 75,062 on December 17, 2020 to  108,943 on Sunday, January 17, 2021. ....

The Nigerian Medical Association on Sunday said it was disturbed by the death of medical doctors as a result of COVID-19, saying it would in January write the Federal Government on the need to train health workers in infection prevention.

The Nigerian Medical Association on Monday said COVID-19 vaccines being imported into the country must undergo a quick clinical trial before it is administered to citizens.
According to the NMA President, Professor Innocent Ujah, reactions to vaccines differ among different races.
“If the vaccines come to Nigeria, we need to quickly do our own evaluation of that vaccine,” he said, during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily. “I cannot say with 100 percent certainty that in the process of developing this vaccine, in the clinical trials, whether any African countries were involved. I’m not too sure, but it’s possible. ....
