Grand Forks City Council leaders unanimously voted Tuesday evening to pay $100,000 to support the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Frozen Faceoff tournament support city leaders say is an important boost to an event that could help jumpstart a lagging local tourism industry.
The money, according to city documents, is part of nearly $270,000 in funding that has been set aside since 2015 and reserved for a “city festival concept” that would boost the local economy.
