New Braunfels man in his 60s added to Comal's COVID-19 death toll


The man died at a New Braunfels hospital on March 28, officials said.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the county moved slightly higher with 22 new cases and 11 recoveries. Of the new cases, nine are confirmed and 13 are probable. The county now has 195 active cases, with eight of those cases hospitalized.
Comal County hospitals reported caring for 19 COVID-19 patients on Monday — up from the 13 reported on Friday. Five of those patients are in intensive care and three are on ventilators. Local hospitals are caring for a mix of local and remote patients and some county patients may be hospitalized elsewhere. ....

NORMAN — The arrival of spring means an increase in sneezing, congestion and scratchy throats for many Oklahoma City metro residents due to allergies.
A recent report from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America reveals the Oklahoma City metro area ranks as the ninth most challenging city to live in for allergy sufferers. The rankings are based on data from the 100 most populated Metropolitan Statistical Areas in the contiguous 48 states, and factor in pollination scores, rate of over-the-counter antihistamine use and number of aller ....

Capital Region Medical Center hosts vaccine clinic Saturday


JEFFERSON CITY – Capital Region Medical Center (CRMC) opened a vaccination clinic at the Capital Mall on Saturday.
The mall offered up an empty storefront off of Country Club Drive that used to house a Party City as the clinic location. Appointments were available for all CRMC patients 16 and older.
Now that Missouri has entered Phase 3 of the state’s vaccination plan, more residents were eligible for an appointment on Saturday. One local woman who didn’t qualify for the vaccine until Phase 3 received her first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the clinic.
“It gives me common reassurance,” Cole County resident June Kelley said. “I think that it’s a very important step to get done for all of us.” ....
